Eden - Zoefest 2005 - Canyon de Chelly - Arizona
This is the first gallery from my October 2005 trip to the USA.
These images were taken in the Canyon de Chelly area of Arizona. The region is part of the Navajo Nation and hence we needed a guide to take us onto their land. After discussing with him the various example images we had the decision was made to visit and use this location.
As we drove in to the main area where we'd decided upon we ended up driving past the rock formation seen in this gallery. Immediately I stated I wanted to work there and arranged to get back here before we left for the day
After shooting with another model not too far away (those images are coming online next) we ended up here with the late afternoon sun setting and washing the whole formation in glorious warm light.
With the sun setting there were issues to work around and as we were discussing how to work with this light my model placed her hand up to block the sun, immediately creating great shadows across her face. With this as a starting point we used the shadows and later the breeze to cover her face to our advantage.
The image of the left here is one of my favourites from this shoot.
My model for this series is the wonderful Eden (linked here). In this location Eden needed to work with the local Rattlesnake community, wind, the hot sun and an adoring audience. I highly recommend working with Eden if you get the chance.
